Ubuntu Dapper :: Nvidia Drivers :: X-(

Well,

I cant rite long tech posts. So in short, installing nvidia drivers on a Dapper Machine is a Pain in the a**.

This post is meant to be a reminder to me if I get stuck again and a pointer to the place where I got it fixed.

Error ::  Mismatch of X module version and nvidia kernel module version

Problems :: Wireless Users mite not be able to use this (although I m one I use my room PC as a Music Player) because this removes the

linux-restricted modules which are needed by the wireless drivers.
Ok just one thing to be added to above fix.  After executing the script when u will reboot. The grub menu will show the latest kernel (installed recently by the script) and the previous already existing kernel. Boot with the already existing kernel (older). (Just comment the lines corresponding to latest kernel in the /boot/grub/menu.lst )  Becos the module is saved at /lib/modules/OLDER-KERNEL

PS :: This info may not be applicable to all the configurations and more importantly it mite be fixed in near future updates of nvidia-glx packages.
