My first shaving CUT && The Damn Machine

Over the last few days I have realized loads of things. It has been like a weekend of realization but neways who wants to change. With all the fever of going to Chandigarh to demo and setup the Terrain System I have been upto nothing but to test the system well and get familiar with things completely done by Shiben. When I went to Prof. PJN asking wat can I expect their machine to be like, he said "Imagine the highest end machine you can it will have some 2 processors minimum and 24GB odd RAM". I was more confused when I came back than when I went to see him. I just tried to look for the machine they have – Prism from SGI.

So I can see a lot of trouble coming while setting up the thing on their machine.

But it seems the specification which goes like this -

* Intel Itanium 2 CPUs running SGI Advanced Linux Environment with SGI ProPack

* ATI FireGL Graphics Processors with XFree86, Gnome/KDE Window Manager, OpenGL 1.5 with

GLSL.

Nir and SMR said its not going to be much different. I hope it goes smooth.

On the Lighter End – Pradhee is back so now we are three in the wing to create some sound waves to feel occupied. Basket ball is regular, Yes I want to improve. Food is still a problem, surviving on Biryani & Mango Juice from Canteen. My Driving License hasnt reached yet I hope it does today. Shopping still awaited. My Summer Work has slightly deviated as in now I got to port the Terrain system on OSG also and thus we mite start the Virtual Earth thing in July, so also I can get my hands on some GPU programming.

I don't want to kill my blog. I really don't. I see my last blog was written on 19th April … I wud just rite everything since then to today and be regular . Amen.

Before Going Home ::

So as soon as I was done with my final set of exams for B.Tech. on 12th April, Life seemed to drift apart. People started looking forward to things they have to do for next couple of years or for rest of life. Everyone was suddenly busy (hellowe just wrote our final exams), with either moving their stuff back home or wrapping up their FYPs. People like me, hmm I guess it was just time to watch things happen. With Shantalu leaving early and then my dear basketball friends Shivam andRao soon I cudnt see many familiar faces around. Still it didnt change a lot, as in Ayan was their who will be visible only after lunch and stay in room and exploit Airtel to Airtel account by calling me for things like "Hey wassup", Pradhee whowill be mostly around in CVIT and Pandey in his room ALL the time.The reason not to depart home was the special classes to be held for 2nd—>3rd year CVITians. It was hell of a time.Everyday at 9:30 in the morning something deadly would be thrown at them like Image Processing, GPU Programming, SceneGraphs and wat not and then another set of exercises to be done by the evening. It was so hard to put thru my ideas as I didnt knowhow to tell them abt GPUs at this stage. Neways they rocked, most of them have gained a lot and I m very happy with this approach of Prof. PJN although during the whole classes thing I was very frustoo with the same.Around the last week of April me and 'A' had another awesome party. Neways by the end of april I was sure my official trip to Chandigarh for setting up the Terrain Rendering System is postponed and luckily Dr. PJN was taking off for first 2 weeksof May and so did we (me nirni & jagga).

At Home ::

This was one of the most boring trips back home, and I perfectly know the reason. THE HEAT at my PLACE. After saying gudbye to Ayan at Bhopal Station I was set to travel in Bus for another 9 hours to reach Home Sweet Home. Initial days at home arealways the same, My mom will take off from Court and will stay home. It would be fun to be at a different place but soon in only 2 days) I won't be able to cope with the things, powercuts, heat — dammit delhi ppl just cry if its 40, it was49 at my place. DialUp network ?? who wants that? The only thing to rely on when friends are off to college and parents to office, is TV …. if everything is going well there won't be a powercut for the Cable operator when we have the power. So ifall this cases come true I would be able to watch TV

Ok A short note on TV :: It sucks if u expect 50 channels to be GOOD, ok 30, ok 20, ok dammit 10, screw it all its just 6, Discovery, ESPN, Star Sports, Star World, Star News(for that matter any one News Channel) and Star One. Yes I don't care about Ten Sports who the hell watches WWE nemore or a 2 year old West Indies vs Zim match. Dont even think of watching any Family channels. The only comedy woth watching shows up on Star World and a bit on Star One. U mite have to completely change ur cycle. Like I did, here at IIIT I used to sleep at 3, back home I slept at 9 and got up at 7:00 so that I can watch NBA Playoffs. Rest of the channels suck BIIGG TIME. The new stuff on ESPN is Kickoff which is a nice Football quiz and in the first season India(Man U) was runnerup with Singapore (NewCastle Utd) as the champs. Then on Discovery Channel you should not miss Myth Busters and Revealing the Truth (something like that) and many more Prime Time shows.

I am very much thankful to myself for taking along the book "Losing My Virginity" (sperate post on that). It took me throughall those hot afternoon hours. It was a beautiful reading. Back home things have changed a lot, My parents bought me a plot(a piece of land) I will be paying 1/3rd of the price from my GE Scholorship and plan to build a bungalow in a couple of years.

As it must be happening with all my batchmates, he Marriage Talk is ON. I am no more a monster who asks for 50K each semester. One thing which is still against my wish is myparents still working but I can't help it now but for sure in next 2 years. Friends are rocking, each one of the bastards had a RAZR V3i or Nokia 3250 which provoked me to change my Nokia 2100 to Nokia 6270 or RAZR V3x.Harsh will be opting for MBA giving a years break and others still have another year to go with their B.E. as they joined in late.
Did go for converting my Booklet of Driving License into a card, will recieve it soon thru post. Met Natasha and Richa both complaining that I have picked some attitude which is completely GL_FALSE. My grand parents from mom's side went for their finalTirtha Yatra Badridham, they have travelled more than anyone in my family.

Back Here ::

The first shocking thing when I came back to Hyd was that somehow my door's lock was not the same as I set it when I left. After finding out the details it seems the brainy Jithu broke my lock and took Dilip's chair which was for sale. Had he done that it was no problem but afterbuying that table for 800 and finding the price to ship it to Blore to be 2400 he put it back in my room. So finally the result is that I have a different lock thats it. On the very next day PJN told me about the demo and setup work at SASE office at Chandigarh. So after comingback leave aside working I was all busy fitting all this things in place. My conclusion on Online booking of train tickets is that Web servicesin India still not 100% perfect, NOT ALL but yes Indian Rail and IRCTC make me vomit and finally I had to book tickets from Mehdipatnam, the
flight booking was ok thru Air Deccan. (Trip Details Later). Apart from that I have to test our system on SUSE 10.0 as the system those ppl have is an SGI system and ofcourse a report of around 100 pages(juniors helping with that ).

Yesterday I had a chat with Rama and we decided to have a deal to blog before tonite and be regular now on. I hope we do.
