Dont Expect a Damn …

With all the problems I was having with my Linux Box, I did not chk my mail for arnd 10 hrs and was expecting a lot of them … but b4 I can chk all of them I was set back by the mail for TAship list….not becos I was expecting my name for gFx but I dont know why it felt worse when I read that I mean when I did not find my name there….i was assigned some job by grafix Prof to be done for this batch … I was suppose to start on that, today morning at 10:00 but I am not a saint I mean I was angry yeah I can completely remember that this is the third time in my whole Acad carrer that I was sad becos of acad reasons ::

1. When I got 87.5/90.0(2nd highest in class….mani got 88) in grafix and still got an A- (I dont know y)
2. When I got 6 marks(after scalling it to 100 the CRUX) more than the person who got an A in DIP and I got a proud B.

3. And today when I was not given the TAship after telling the whole point of taking the TAship to my Prof.

Now with the point of TAship being raised lets talk smthing abt it …

DISCLAIMER:: I have a GPA of 7.7 and I know I cant comment on smthing which needs gud acads to talk abt but still I will talk as this is my blog and I think I m rite.

It all started in 2002, I was a back bencher all my life and was selected into AIEEE just becos of the negative marking being 1:4 and not 1:3 so It was gr8 to be here at IIIT with all the gr8 minds from all over India….I was always excited abt my interests I mean the actual interests and not the ones I used to rite in my Bio-data during Interaction/Raging period….so I was playing basketball in the evening in proper formals and missed the deadline of an assignment. Now I was completely ready to be punished for this, but when I came across this TA of mine, the image of a Teaching Assistant was shattered. The whole point seems to be donating money to the needy with a GUD CGPA, at this point again I m reminding that I dont have a problem with the scheme rather I will tell u the best TAs IIIT ever had ….. U must be thinking y am i making it a big issue just for one reason that I believe that if TAs are the rite ppl to be there …. they can actually make some difference to ur knowledge…..ok these ppl

1. ALN Kumar :- He was the first guy who was very impressive with the way he taught us physics….although no one was interested in the course as such but his commitment and the way to handle students including the Query machine of our batch in 1st year was awesome.

2. Sujit :- He was our tutor for DS but luckily or unluckily I fell in Somu’s group, but the ppl under Sujit impressed me with their talk. He was one among the greatest brains from IIIT and damn serious when it came to TAship thing.

3. Nirnimesh :- Godly, the one who made me realize that Learning is nothing but to stay curious abt things you want to learn. He got me going after that project related to “Streaming of Video over WLAN to a PDA”. He was very dedicated abt ITWS-3 and became furious when he came to know that I copied another assignment even after a warning.

They were some ppl whom I will always remember as part of my learning experience.

There are ppl whom I believe can be the best of knowledge carriers….

1. Manikandan :- I always think he is the perfect contender for teaching the first years and same is thought by Jaws and thats why he keeps him constant with CProgramming and DS every year.

2. IV Monga Manish:- I am grouping them together becos I know them equally just that I ragged Manish more than other 2 but then Monga and IV live next to my room …yeah Monga is mostly found in room no. 192 which is IV’s. Now these ppl are the best set of brains I have ever seen …. mind u “Best Set” … Individually they are gr8 but when they stay together I can bet they produce a lot more….shit happens and here is there part of it ….
3. Paresh:- I wish I can learn smthing from him. He set me going for the MS thing along with Ranta….

So u can easily make out that this is just my frustration for not getting the TAship. If the frustration goes at this pace I dont know I mite have a category in my blog reading “Frustu”. No its not completely my frustration abt my missing the TAship its abt doing ur job well, thats the first thing one shud learn when it comes to doing ur part….. neways .. Life will go on and as I know myself I will find a good reason for not getting the TAship and will do smthing extra with my acads …. well time to take off and chk the download of Breezy …. hmmm its 75% and I guess it will take another 3 hours at max. ciao….

It was a nice breezy morning, I set my right hand on the monitor’s ON/OFF switch on the side panel (samsung 793S) and second on the basket which holds by tooth brush. Bill Gates is smthing, its was not even a week when I completely moved to Ubuntu from Win and was living happily that while brushing my front teeth staring in the mirror I thought why not have some space for Quake 3/4 and BF2. cmon pati nuthing is wrong in playing games on Windows as long as u cant install nVIDIA drivers in linux…..hmm ok wat can go wrong….??…the question marks I just put are symbol of my foolishness…..my idiotic and short term memory…..k will be back at this point …lets go in flashback…

Once upon a time I was so happy to buy a FX5200 with 512 RAM and an AMD 2400+ arnd 2 years back. I was excited to get going as soon as I got the box in my room … so the very first day I installed WinXP on my hda1 which was 9GB and the next day after getting up eating almost nuthing at my breakfast (which I generally do when I m very happy I dont eat
nething) , I was ready with the SUSE cds fetched from PJ the previous nite…..pluggin in the cds … I wait for the succesful installation of my own linux box…. ok, as soon as u reboot in windows U will know u have been struck by the most idiotic bug possible in the history of Computers..let me quote,

“If ur hda1/primary partition is greater than 8GB, installation of ur Linux OS will screw ur windows and not only this but will screw the partition table so bad that ne further installation of XP can not be done in a normal way“

So it was a nitemare for me to deal with smthign like “Missing Operating System” just when u are installing windows on a complete clean harddisk ….. remember it was 2 years back .. it was not that famous of a BUG then … now u get the best support u can get from GOOGLE. It took me IIIT 2k2 batch’s 3 best minds in the field of linux (Mani, Pacchu aka Prashant and Praveen) to fix my system up. Finally I learned a lesson. I almost wasted my 3 days on that bug….but I m always happy after a succesful fixing of a BUG ….. Its no time waste its the best utilisation of the time…..
So that was wat happened then …. and that morning again I was shot dead by the stupidity of the Operating systems on Earth…It was never the same on MARS ….. My whole afternoon was wasted waiting for Sagar to get me the linux CD for rescuing and wat I find out in the end is I cant rescue Ubuntu I dont know why I know there must be a way but just that the normal procedure did not work for me….. that day. Finally after some stupid moves I was left with a blank 80 GB harddisk in my room staring at the same switched off monitor which was the first thing I saw that morning …. well and then I slept at 11:00 PM.
I woke up at 10 next morning, that was the longest single shot sleep in few months….but when I wake up wat I c is the same dumb monitor….I was sad … I was wasting my precious time sleeping (I dont like sleeping …. as per the philosophy of SMR) when I cud have read blogs of several gr8 ppl, chked my feeds and wud have rather done some work. But well that is Life Reloaded for U. So wat do we do now. The way in which I can restore my Hard disk to normal state was painful I knew that …. suddenly all the boot diskette formulas had to be used to fix it and I was in no Mood to do that … I was determined to give it back to both the OSs that I m not an ass to follow there way of fixing my hard disk …. so just for the sake of changin the surroundings I moved to lab with my CPU….and here was magnificent hack I tried and surprisingly it worked …..
Now wat the solution to the above problem says is to boot with a windows bootable diskette and run some command like sys c: and some more stuff I knew I cant find a damn diskette and definately I dont want to go and ask for CDs to ppl arnd me just becos all of them have lended me arnd 20 CDs which I got to return them asap……so my idea of fixing it was To install Linux on hda1 that is primary and thus fixing the fked up part of hda1 …. so wat I did was going for a installation on hda1 with a ubuntu cd and when it reboots to finish the installation I put in my WinXP cd … well I was not expecting nething but it seems to remove the problem and yeah all this without using a diskette….. I succesfully installed XP on my hda1 and just to find out that again the size of my hda1 is 9 GB (greater than 8GB)
wat the faaaakkk…..fine that is enuf NO MORE GIVING A DAMN TO WINDOWS where the hell is my Ubuntu cd … I put it in and there I go I installed Ubuntu 5.04 again and rite now sitting in lab with a stupid 15″ monitor riting this blog…. waiting for the distro upgrade YEAH I will be having Breezy on my PC by tom. morning if everything goes fine….Yeah the title of the post in nuthing but my fav song now a days … yeah another one is

UbUNtU is Godly

“Ubuntu” is an ancient African word, meaning “humanity to others”. Ubuntu also means “I am what I am because of who we all are”. The Ubuntu Linux distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

All worries came to an end when shiben told me that we will be installing windows on our lab PC…its a 1GB RAM 6600 GT 64bit 3200+ AMD box…..its awesome… so I am an asshole thats no doubt I do stuff when I shud not be doing it like during my 3 major exams I shifted from Blogspot—–>Blosxom—>WordPress and so on … but this time I was kinda free apart from 3 projects (which I am not even completely aware of) and some reports … but watever … so I again acted like a highly geeky linux user and moved my system upside down from a complete gaming and entertaining box with a pirated XP oh no its not pirated my insti has some registered copy but I feel better when I use a free XP…so yeah then the question is will the Godly WLAN of IIIT with a dumb card on my PC i.e. Dlink G-520+ make my life accesible to Network wait still wat am I gonna install … I have tried hard with FC4 and I m kinda bored with it, Suse ahh let me see no no way I dont know y but I remember when it fked my Win also and did not even detect my wireless lan card so smone yeah Monga pinches me abt Ubuntu and yeah the assholic matter inside me gets catalysed by such comments which directly take u to hell but wasting ur whole day sometime more…its not that I m a sincere student who cant devote a day to installation and customization, BULLSHIT, I just want to get wat I want in the end ..time does not matter….so I started with the installation of Ubuntu “Hoary” and landed safe with the max problems as booting of windows which I was going to format anyway….so all set here I m with the superb network and a beautiful OS … it really is ….the loogin music makes me feel refreshed…

XBOX 360 & Me
